Pretty good experience

I grabbed one of those refurbished smartphones from them with a talk and text plan. Figured it was a good way to save some cash. The phone came in good shape, looked almost new. Activation wasn't a hassle, just followed the instructions. Haven't had any issues with calls or texts. It just works, which is what you want, right? Saved a few bucks and got a decent phone out of it. Can't complain.

So happy with my new phone!

I got the Apple iPhone with an unlimited data plan and I love it! The phone arrived so fast, even earlier than they said. It was super easy to activate and get my old number moved over. The coverage is great where I live, no issues at all. I am definitely going to shop here again and tell all my friends about it!

Detailed plan and device experience

I ordered the Motorola Moto G with an unlimited data plan for my mother. The ordering process was straightforward on their website. It arrived within four days, which was pretty standard. Activation was mostly smooth, though I had a small question about transferring her old number, and their customer service was helpful and resolved it quickly. The Moto G itself is a decent senior-friendly smartphone; it's easy enough for her to navigate. The signal quality has been consistent so far, no dropped calls or anything. I appreciate the clarity on their plans too, no hidden fees which is a big plus. The international calling add-on was also simple to activate when she needed it.

Good value for a basic plan

I was looking for a decent talk and text plan without breaking the bank. Affinity Cellular had a good offer, especially with the AAA member discount. I saved a bit on the monthly bill compared to what I was paying before. It feels like a solid choice for the price; the activation was free too. Overall, I got what I needed for less.

Solid service, a few minor snags

Switched to Affinity Cellular for a shared data plan. The process was mostly smooth, and the pricing was competitive, especially with the multi-line discount. Delivery of the SIM cards was prompt. Customer service was responsive when I called with a question about setting up the shared data on a bring your own phone kit. My only small gripe is that their website could be a bit clearer on how to manage multiple lines within the account portal; it took a little searching to find what I needed. But the coverage has been good, and the monthly cost is definitely better than my previous provider. Good overall value.

Hey, wondering about the AAA discount. My grandma is thinking of switching, does she need to do anything special to get it?

C Cody G. 1 month ago
Yeah, they verify it somehow during sign-up. I think it was just a checkbox or something when I did it for my dad.

You usually just need to enter your AAA membership number when you're signing up or activating a new line. They check it right then.

is affinity cellular really better than consumer cellular? i keep seeing ads for both and can't decide for my mom.

T Tara Hughes 1 month ago
It really depends on what you need. I found Affinity had slightly better deals for the specific plan my grandpa wanted, but Consumer Cellular has good customer service too. Check coverage maps for your area.

I switched from Consumer Cellular to Affinity because of the AAA discount. For me, it saved a few bucks and the service has been exactly the same quality wise.

What's their return policy like if the phone isn't what I expected? Is it a hassle to send stuff back?

F Faith P. 2 months ago
They have a 30-day guarantee thing. I returned a flip phone once for my aunt and it was pretty straightforward, just had to pay for shipping back I think.

As long as it's within the first month and the phone is in good shape, you should be fine. I've heard it's not too bad to return things.

Are their phones unlocked, or are they locked to Affinity Cellular? I might want to switch providers later.

R Renee 1 month ago
Most phones from MVNOs are usually locked, at least for a bit. You'd probably have to check their specific unlock policy. I know with some, you have to use it for a certain amount of time.

I think they're locked to their network initially. You might be able to get them unlocked after a while, like if you complete a certain number of months of service, but don't quote me on that. It's pretty common practice though.

Can I use my own iPhone 13 Pro Max with them? I don't want to buy a new device.

B Brett G. 1 month ago
Yep, you can! They have a bring your own phone option. Just make sure it's unlocked and compatible with their network.

I brought my old Samsung over, it was super easy. They just send you a SIM kit and you pop it in.
